The creative thought pattern gets started by working on your passion. In the past I had craving to work with colors and I started with oil painting. My creativity just took off and I applied that to my then job as a computer professional in At&t. I also became professional later and used my creativity for interior design, writing, public speaking, day to day living, raising kids and many more things. Some people do not realize that they are already using their creativity.
